New Class!

This Fall I am teaching a new class on "Globalization and Migrations".  Thanks to Seth Murray in NCSU's program in International Studies for giving me the nudge and making the class possible. Also, thanks to Hannah Rainey and all the staff associated with the NCSU Libraries Alt-Textbook project for helping develop the class. The class walks students through research on a migration-related topic of their choosing. Students then use that research to write up Wikipedia entries using the Wiki Education portal. Because Wikipedia requires the neutral presentation of substantiated data, students learn critical thinking skills. They gain perspective on the presentation of information on the internet and practice making positive contributions to the public conversations that are an essential part of any democratic society.
